Museum of Ojibwa Culture

Search St Ignace Michigan

Located on North State Street, the park is the presumed site of Father Jacques Marquett's grave. A statue honoring him, an interpretive kiosk about his life and a recreated Victorian garden are on the grounds.

The museum, housed in a restored 19th century Jesuit church, is dedicated to the Ojibwa, the original inhabitants of the upper Great Lakes region. Displays include artifacts, some dating to 6000 B.C. and reproductions relating to the Ojibwa culture. A typical Ojibwa family is portrayed in an 8 minute video.

Open Monday through Saturday 11am-5pm, Sunday 1pm-5pm in summer; hours vary the rest of the year.
