Ortonville is in
Oakland County, and in the
Southeast Region. This community is located off of State Hwy 15 and situated northeast of
Holly near I-75.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,462, an increase of 210 since 1990.
Ortonville was founded by Amos Orton who built a dam across Kearsley Creek to furnish water power for his sawmill back in 1848. The town was platted in 1866, and later incorporated as a village in 1902.
