Stanton is in
Montcalm County (of which is the county seat). This community is located off of Hwy 66 and just northeast of
Greenville.
Stanton was organized in 1860 when the people of Montcalm County voted to move the county seat here from Greenville, which was the original county seat since 1840.
Today Stanton's economic base includes agriculture, tourism and other related services. Stanton has a strong school system and is less than five miles from Montcalm Community College. The beautiful downtown area with its well-kept turn-of-the-century buildings is situated on a hill facing east. In August, Stanton celebrates its Old Fashioned Days.
