Suttons Bay

Suttons Bay is located in Leelanau County, just north of Traverse City along Highway 22 near Grand Traverse Bay and Lake Leelanau.

Suttons Bay was founded by Harry C. Sutton in 1854. First called Suttonsburg and shortly after renamed Pleasant City, it was eventually named Suttons Bay in 1861.

Today, this community has grown to become an adjunct community to Traverse City in addition to its progressive role in tourism. It is known world-wide for hosting the Classic Boat Show each June. This family event showcases and challenges the best of the best in antique, wooden small boats.
