Tipton is located in
Lenawee County southeast of
Jackson between Jackson and
Tecumseh along Highway 50 near Sand Lake and the Raisin River. Tipton is part of the
Ann Arbor, Michigan metro area.
Founded by the Reverend Henry Tripp in 1831. Tripton was organized in 1833, and named Franklin Center after Benjamin Franklin. Later, it was renamed Tripp Town and finally shortened to Tipton.
