White Cloud is located in
Newaygo County (of which it is the county seat) north of
Grand Rapids between
Muskegon and
Big Rapids along Highway 37 on the banks of the White River near Robinson and Diamond lakes.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,326, an increase of 179 since 1990.
White Cloud's history is tied to the Ottawa Indians who inhabited the area long before the lumber barons from the east arrived to plunder the great white pine forests in the 1870's.
