Alexander Ramsey Park

'The Little Yellowstone of Minnesota'

The park's 217 acres qualify it as the largest public park in the state, with campground facilities, 4 miles of paved hiking trails, and a DNR trout stream among its many public facilities. The park's feature attraction is Ramsey Falls; during warm months, Ramsey Creek waters cascade into a lower pool. Access trails reveal historic bridges and scenic overlooks through forested areas. The Ramsey Park Zoo is home to a collection of animals native to the area, as well as some other 'exotic' birds and small animals; a variety of picnic and play areas are located in the lower part of the park. A camping shelter situated just a few yards from the Redwood River is a favorite for family gatherings and picnics. Built as a state park in 1911, Ramsey Park is now maintained and improved by the city.
