Founded in 1919 as a small teachers college, Bemidji State offers unique academic programs in Industrial Technology, Environmental Studies and Aquatic Biology as well as baccalaureate and graduate level programs. The campus enjoys a beautiful location in Northern Minnesota at the headwaters of the Mississippi River on Lake Bemidji. Free parking is offered on the lake in the winter. A tunnel system is featured throughout the entire campus.
