The 36-acre-plus park provides shaded recreational facilities that attract many visitors from out of town, who enjoy the beach, lake and pier; amenities include a 1,040-sq-ft beach house, lifeguard room, first-aid storage room, and a concession stand with running water. Other park facilities include 16 picnic tables; 12 outdoor grills; playground equipment; picnic shelters with electric power; light poles with electric outlets; standard, fishing and water ski docks; watchtower; boat landing; lakeside swing bench, and a bike and hiking trail. A restroom with running water, toilets, and changing facilities is located outside the beach house. The City of Babbitt and the Babbitt Lions Club recently funded a 104-ft, handicapped accessible fishing pier at the Birch Lake beach,- Wendy's Wharf. Just east of Babbitt, it's a great spot for walleyes, bass, panfish, and Northerns.
