Crookston is located in
Polk County (of which it is the county seat) in northwest Minnesota southeast of Grand Forks on US 2 on the banks of the Red Lake river, in the
Red River Valley Region.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 7,534, a decrease of 585 since 1990.
