Eveleth is located in St. Louis County north of Duluth on County road 7 near Virginia, which is home to the largest loon decoy in the world. The area is in the Lakes of the Northern Lights Region. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 3,787, a decrease of 277 since 1990.
