Father Hennepin State Park is located on
Mille Lacs Lake, the second largest lake completely within Minnesota's borders. The lake features a beach, two boat launches and a wheelchair-accessible fishing pier. Anglers fish for walleye, northerns, bluegills, crappie, bass and muskie. The park is home to a variety of birdlife including ospreys, loons, eagles, terns, cormorants and mergansers. Two small islands northwest of the park form a natural wildlife refuge for nesting birds. More than 300 species of birds have been seen in the park. Visitors can enjoy four miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails, some of which is wheelchair accessible.
