This is a collection of original buildings and replicas that depict 19th-century life in Freeborn County. An early log cabin, renovated and completely furnished, is joined by a general store, one-room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, bank, train depot and other structures complete with period furnishings and equipment. The main museum houses exhibits and library. Guided tours are available by appointment. Open Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday & Sunday 1-5pm, May-September; Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pm the rest of the year.
