McCone 1880 Sod House Exhibit

Located 20 miles from Walnut Grove on the Laura Ingalls Historic Highway. The exhibit features two sod houses furnished in 1880s style and surrounded by prairie grassed and wildflowers. Representing both the rich and the poor settler, the houses contain oil lamps, wood burning stoves, a fainting couch and an outhouse. The houses are open daily and guided tours are offered. A fur traders log cabin is also on the site. Open April through October.
