This was the first stone house in Minnesota, built in 1836 by pioneer fur trader and one-time governor Henry H Sibley. The house has been restored and furnished with period pieces, some of which are original. Faribault House, next door, was built shortly after the Sibley House by Jean Baptiste Faribault, another fur trader. Antiques and American Indian relics fill the restored home. Guided tours of both houses are offered. Open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday noon-5pm, May-0ctober. Last tour begins one hour before closing.
