Central Institute for the Deaf CID Oral School and Outreach Center helps deaf and hearing-impaired children birth-12 learn to listen, talk and succeed in the mainstream. CID Family Center services birth-3 free to families residing in Missouri and Illinois. In the CID preschool-kindergarten, teachers emphasize speech, listening, pre-literacy, child development and social skills throughout a specially adapted, language-rich mainstream curriculum. Children aged 5-12 receive a highly individualized, assessment-based education weaving speech, language and listening into a regular academic curriculum in preparation for the mainstream.
