Skaggs is named for M.B. and Estella Skaggs. Skaggs Community Health Center daily patient census average is 60, and more than 100 physicians are on the medical staff roster, representing more than 45 specialties. More than 800 nursing and support personnel are required to operate the hospital and its 15 clinics.
At the same time the hospital opened in 1950, a hospital auxiliary group was founded. Now, more than 300 volunteers belong to six volunteer groups that provide invaluable service to Skaggs, its patients, visitors and employees. The largest of these are Skaggs Community Health Center Auxiliary and the American Red Cross Uniformed Volunteers.
Almost from the beginning and during each of the following five decades, healthcare services and medical technology at the hospital have continued to expand. All the while, dedicated employees have maintained their sense of pride, caring and professionalism.
