The parking area at the panning area is a small clearing adjacent to Libby Creek. No restrooms or camping facilities are available. Howard Lake Campground is located a mile south on Road 231.
The rules for gold panning are no motorized or mechanized equipment, no sluices or rockers. Picks, shovels, buckets and pans are welcome.
From Libby, go 7 miles south on Hwy 2. Turn right onto Bear Creek Road and contineu to 15 miles to Libby Creek Road 231. Turn right and go about 2 miles.
