The seat of Custer County, Miles City is located 46 miles northeast of Forsyth on I-94 on the banks of the Yellowstone River near Roche Jaune Recreation Area. Miles City is a classic Western town, most famous for its annual celebration of cowboy culture - the Miles City Jaycee Bucking Horse Sale.Miles City is located at the confluence of the Yellowstone and the Tongue River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 8,685, an increase of 224 since 1990.
