Tapachula city is an important commercial and agricultural center located in the State of Chiapas, Mexico. Close to the Mexico-Guatemala border, Tapachula sits at the base of an extinct volcano called El Tacan . The Tapachula local artisans make a variety of handicrafts (wickerwork and ironworks). Coffee plantations and other agriculture related businesses in the area provide the economic mainstay of Tapachula.
