Constructed in 1846 by Father John Sweeney, this museum contains many pieces of history, including period furniture, religious art, artifacts from early Hotel Dieu Hospital and the Religious Hospitallers of Saint Joseph. Yearbooks from St Thomas College and Saint Michael's Academy are also contained in the museum. Historical photographs include prominent people from the Miramichi area, like early poets, politicians, businessman, priests, bishops, and religious sisters. The local history of the town of Chatham is featured, along with the shipping vessels and industry of the same area. The museum also contains religious articles, and a wide variety of books, including Roman history, English history, French history, Early Law and Medicine, Religions, the History of the Catholic Church, Biographies, Ireland History and Literature, older fiction, and local histories.
