Columbia is located in Tyrrell County (of which it is the county seat) between Plymouth and Manteo on US Hwy 64 on the banks of the Scuppemong River near Creswell, Pettigrew State Park, Albemarle Sound, Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, and the Alligator River.
