Danbury is located in Stokes County (of which it is the county seat) north of Winston-Salem, between Walnut Cove and Mount Airy along Highway 89 on the banks of the Dan River near Lawsonville. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 128, an increase of 6 since 1990. Danbury is part of the Greensboro--Winston-Salem--High Point metro area.
