Eden is located in
Rockingham County north of
Greensboro, between
Reidsville and
Ridgeway along Highway 87 on the banks of the Dan River near
Wentworth and
Madison and the Smith River.
Eden was named by William Byrd in 1728 when he led a survey party to establish the boundary line between North Carolina and Virginia. He called this area 'Land of Eden' because of its beauty.
