General William Lee Airborne Museum |
Located in the former house of General Lee. Known as the 'Father of the Airborne,' Lee was assigned by President Franklin D Roosevelt to organize the development of Army airborne units. His efforts led to the establishment of the Airborne Command and earned him the Distinguished Service Medal. Exhibits include photographs, vidoetape, World War II memorabilia, historical documents and paratrooper equipment and uniforms. Open Tuesday-Friday 10am-4pm, Saturday 11am-4pm, Sunday 1-4pm; closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
