At Grandfather Mountain you can photograph bears, river otters, panthers, deer, and eagles in spacious natural wildlife habitats; browse through a nature museum that celebrates the natural history of the region; and see original nature movies about the mountain. Visitors can dine in the restaurant or plan on picnicking at any of a hundred roadside tables. Then set out for adventure on 13 miles of the South's best alpine hiking trails.
