Havelock is located in Craven County southeast of Goldsboro within the Croatan National Forest, between New Bern and Morehead City along US Highway 70 on the banks of the Neuse River near Great Lake, Lake Ellis Simon, the Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station, and Rattan Bay.This city is one of eight in the world named for Sir Henry Havelock. Two are in Canada; three are in the United States; one in Swaziland of Southern Africa; and two in New Zealand. There is also an island named for him in the Indian Ocean.
