Huntersville is located in Mecklenburg County between Charlotte and Mooresville along Hwy 115 on the shore of Lake Norman near Cornelius, Kannapolis, and UNC Charlotte. Huntersville was incorporated in 1873, and is believed to have been named for Robert Boston Hunter, a large land owner and cotton farmer.Huntersville is part of the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill metro area.
