Kitty Hawk is located in Dare County northeast of Manteo between Duck and Nags Head along Highway 12 near Kill Devil Hills and the Currituck Sound. Kitty Hawk will forever be associated with the Wright Brothers as the birthplace of aviation - although the actual flight took place four miles south from the base of Kill Devil Hills.
