Lake Waccamaw is located in
Columbus County between
Whiteville and
Wilmington along Hwy 214 near Lake Waccamaw and the Lake Waccamaw State Park. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,015, an increase of 61 since 1990.
The Waccamaw silverside, also known as skipjack or glass minnow, is a small, almost transparent fish with a silvery stripe along each side. Known only from Lake Waccamaw and the upper Waccamaw River in Columbus County, North Carolina.
