Long Leaf Opera

Long Leaf Opera is dedicated to musical works written in English and to high quality musical theatre not currently produced by any other company in the North Carolina Triangle area. There are hundreds of wonderful works by Bernstein, Menotti, Barber, Wilder, Floyd, Copland, Still, Marsalis, Moore, Blitzstein, Joplin, Weill, and others, composed in English and inspired by the American experience. Many of these are seldom if ever seen in this area, and we hope to remedy this.

First with one-acts, later with full length productions, we've begun to explore this repertoire, using the best in local and regional talent. We will encourage a multicultural company and an inclusive production atmosphere. Eventually, we hope to develop a summer opera festival.
