The purposes of the Museum is to educate people about anthropology; encourage public awareness of and responsibility towards anthropological resources; to protect, preserve, manage the anthropological collections of the University; and enhance the instructional and research programs of the Wake Forest University Department of Anthropology. The museum's permanent collection consists of objects from the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Oceania, including household and ceremonial items, textiles, hunting and fishing gear, and objects of personal adornment.
