North Carolina Museum of History

Exhibits depict North Carolina history from pre-Colonial to the present with emphasis on sports, folk life, and women's history. Objects on display include period clothing and furnishings, Civil War weapons and flags, a replica of Orville and Wilbur Wright's airplane, and one of Richard Petty's racing cars. Open Tuesday-Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday noon-5pm; closed holidays. Admission is free to the public.
