Scottish Tartans Museum |
Depicts the history of the Scottish tartan from its earliest days in AD 325. Exhibits delineate the evolution of the kilt, from function to tradition. Displays include tartans and Highland dress from 1700 to the present and a complete registry of all publicly known tartans. Weaving demonstrations are also given, and visitors may view their family tartan by computer in the research library. Open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm, Sunday 1-5pm; closed major holidays.
