St. James Episcopal Church

The origional church was built in 1751 and used as a riding school by the British during the Revolutionary War. It was rebuilt in 1839 and now houses a 400- to 600-year old painting that was taken from a captured ship in 1748 and given to the parish in 1754. The church features several impressive wood carvings.
