The community of Washington, NC is located in Beaufort County (of which it is the county seat) between New Bern and Williamston along US Hwy 17. Situated on the banks of the Pamlico River near Greenville, Chocowinity, and Bath.This is the first town named in honor of President George Washington, while he was yet a General. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 9,263, an increase of 103 since 1990.
