Cooperstown is located in eastern North Dakota in Griggs County (of which it is the county seat) about 40 miles north of Valley City in the beautiful Sheyenne River Valley.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Lake Ashtabula is just 10 miles south-southeast of town while Red Willow Lake, 15 miles to the northwest, has good fishing for Northern Pike, Perch and Bluegill as well as boating and water-skiing opportunities. In addition, from the middle of April to the middle of October, golfers can enjoy the challenge of Cooperstown Country Club. They offer the general public a chance to play their 9-hole, par 37, 3,300-yard course.
