Towner county is located in the
Lakes and Gardens Region and calls
Cando its county seat. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 2,955, a decrease of 672 over the 1990 census.
The only significant natural feature in the county is Rock Lake just south of the Canadian border. In addition, a small slice of Hurricane Lake spills over into the southwest corner of the county from Rolette County.
