Ramsey county is located in northeastgern North Dakota with
Devils Lake acting as the county seat. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 11,944, a decrease of 737 over the 1990 census.
The southern boundary is formed, to a great degree, by Devils Lake. Other significant bodies of water include Sweet Water Lake in central Ramsey county with Lake Alice and Chain Lake occupying the western county area.
