Box Butte Reservoir State Rec Area

Box Butte is a 1,600-acre impoundment on the Niobrara River with an adjacent 612 acres of land. The area offers power boating, picnicking, swimming beach, fishing and primitive camping. Box Butte is an irrigation reservoir so it has a severe drawdown during the summer months. There is one boat ramp and in dry years it may be difficult to launch a boat.
