Laurel is located in
Cedar County north of
Wayne, between
Randolph and
Dixon along Hwy 20.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 896, a decrease of 85 since 1990.
The town of Laurel, located in the south part of Cedar County, owes its existence to the early pioneers who bravely set out to settle in the wide open spaces on the prairie,of this area. One of the early pioneers was Mr. L C. Tolles, coming from Vermont in 1872.
