Cambridge Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1958 via donations and a fund drive by area residents who saw the need for locally based quality health care. Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Health Center grew to become an extensive healthcare facility as over the years clinics were established to provide localized health care in surrounding communities. In the early 1990s, this health care network became the Tri Valley Health System, one of the most comprehensive health systems in rural America today. Their mission is to be the health care provider of choice and a lifelong health resource for southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas.
Tri Valley Health System's challenge is to meet the healthcare needs of the 10,000 residents of 15 communities in Frontier, Furnas, Gosper and Red Willow Counties, a population which has a higher than national average of elderly residents.
