Wilber is located in Saline County (of which it is the county seat) southeast of Lincoln between DeWitt and Crete along Highway 103 on the banks of the Big Blue River near the Olive Creek State Recreation Area (part of the Lincoln, Nebraska Metropolitan Area).

Wilber is the 'Czech Capitol of America. Wilber was named for C.D. Wilber of Illinois, who gave the land to build a city.
