Colebrook New Hampshire |
Located within sight of Dixville Notch State Park in the state’s most beautiful section, Colebrook is located in Coos County along the Connecticut River on US Route 3. Colebrook, NH was granted by Governor Benning Wentworth to Sir George Colebrooke on December 1, 1770. He never came to inspect his lands and the town wasn’t really settled until after the revolution. Originally, the town was called Dryden.
The census of 1790 completely ignored the town’s physical being, although several settlers had already established themselves here. On June 11, 1796, the town became incorporated.
Located in the Great North Woods region of New Hampshire, visitors may visit nearby Beaver Brook Falls, Coleman State Park, the Shrine of Our Lady of Grace or ski at the Balsams Wilderness.
