Franklin is located in Merrimack County, 10 miles southwest of Laconia between Tilton and Lochmere along Highway 11, on the banks of the Merrimack River. It was originally called Pemigewasset Village and was taken from portions of Salisbury, Andover, Sanbornton and Northfield. It is located near the confluence of the and Northfield.
