The mission of the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is to advance understanding of ecology by exploring New Hampshire's natural world, and they fulfill that mission with several programs. They offer pontoon boat ecotour cruises of Squam Lake, aka "Golden Pond", three times daily. Also: The Gephart Trail with live NH wildlife in trailside enclosures; Self-guided nature trails; Hands-on exhibits; Gordon Children's Activity Center; Kirkwood Gardens designed to attract birds and butterflies; H iking trails with views of Squam Lakes; Nature Store featuring gifts with nature and education in mind; Ragged Island, a private island on Lake Winnipesaukee.
