This site includes the laboratory occupied by Thomas Edison from 1887 until his death in 1931, as well as the 29-room Queen Anne-style home, Glenmont, purchased by the Edisons in 1886. Following his death, the inventor's company maintained the laboratory as a private museum until the mid-1950s, when the buildings and collections were placed in the custody of the National Park Service.
