Glen Ridge

The Borough of Glen Ridge is in Essex County, in the Gateway Region. It was settled in 1666 by several families from Connecticut. It developed as a mill town, producing lumber, calico, pasteboard boxes and brass fittings.

Glen Ridge is just off State Highway 19 and near I-280. It is densely populated in a region of similarly densely-populated wall-to-wall small commmunities. Nearby communities are Belleville, Bloomfield, Nutley and West Orange. Manhattan is less than fifteen miles eastward.
