St. Ann's Italian Festival

Search Hoboken New Jersey

A unique Italian experience is the annual St. Ann's Festival held the last week of July. For 92 years, the 8-day St. Ann's Festival, like a scene in the middle of a Francis Ford Coppola movie at the turn of the century, has been a distinguished event for St. Ann's. Visit Anne Marie's Italian baked goods, Tony's Italian Music Stand and a variety of different sausage and peppers stands. In the back lot by the large 'beer' tent, hear the sounds of Italian America's proudest popular artists. If you are not diet conscious, try a zeppole. The fried dough creation served in brown paper bags filled with powdered sugar is the carefully guarded secret recipe of the St. Ann's Ladies Guild. On the festival's final Sunday see a special homage to St. Ann. The 5.5 hour procession of the 600 lb statue parades through the streets on the backs of the Ladies Guild of St. Ann's. For pregnant women it's common to accompany the statue in their bare feet as an expression of their devotion to the Saint.
