Hoboken is located in Hudson County, in the Gateway Region, just east of Newark between I-78 leading to the Holland Tunnel two miles south, and I-495 leading to the Lincoln Tunnel three miles north. It is situated in a densely populated area on the banks of the Hudson River near the Upper New York Bay, west of New York City.
