Hoboken is located in Hudson County, in the Gateway Region, just east of Newark between I-78 leading to the Holland Tunnel two miles south, and I-495 leading to the Lincoln Tunnel three miles north. It is situated in a densely populated area on the banks of the Hudson River near the Upper New York Bay, west of New York City. Nearby are Jersey City and Stevens Institute of Technology. Hoboken is part of the Jersey City, New Jersey metro area.
